Sunset by antonisfes Sunset by antonisfes
This was inspired by the amazing sunsets of Greece.

The bottom part was done in Terragen, all the rest were done in Photoshop CS.

Comments and :+fav: are appriciated. :)

I think this is one of my favorites. Makes me want to go out and use my telescope. If only it weren't cloudy...guess I'll just have to gaze at this. Haha

Good job! I like it! I have been wanting to do something like this. It looks simple to do. It gives me an idea of how to do this. Thanks! :)

It's very cool, but the reflected light on the water doesn't show any sign of the red-shift that should be there, if it was coming from that sun.

Crisp and detailed. The textures and lighting look natural and real, especially the surfaces of the planets above.

Very cool! I like the attention to detail. Must have taken you a while. The only thing I would say is to maybe knock the milkyway of stars back a little more. It feels it could be a little subtler.

Still, Great piece!

Hmm... I've commented on this already, but I'll admit it wasn't exactly a critique!

The larger stars in the sky are beautifuly done and nicely laid out, but I feel that the smaller stars are too uniform in size. There's very little variety in it as a background. You should try some areas with fewer stars, perhaps even some black space, to lighten it up a bit.
Also, the highlights on the planets and on the water are very cold and white for such a warm sunset. a tinge of yellow or orange at the edges would do a lot to tie the picture together.

The sunset itself is beautiful and I love the way you've faded it into the starscape. The colour choices for the sky are also as near perfect as anyone can get!

That's really good...i like the addition of the planets, they make it look brilliant, the sunset is beautifl, really good oranges and the contrast between that and the sky is brilliant. Love it. :+fav:

Nice composition you did there - the planets are definitely very well done, and the sunset looks great. I like the way you did the color blending from the warm colours near to the sun up into the night sky with cooler colors. Great job!

If I may, though: Considering the light source (the sun), the highlights on the planets go a bit too far - the shadowy side should be much wider, unless you add another star on top (for the sake of realism). Also, the hue of the light on the water does not match that of the sunset - it should be much warmer, it looks a bit off like this IMO. The starfield may also be a trifle too dense, but that's really personal preference :)

Very nice, what a nice sunset that would be to see! :D

I agree with YemeniteCamel, the planets look a little out of place, and also a little too big. I think that it would be nicer without them.

Can't wait to see more of your work. Why not try something without planets? You'd probably be good at anything! :D

Very beautiful image, I just think the light and the sun are completely right; I mean, either it's too dark or the sun's too bright

I'd say you crop it, just so we can see the sunset. The piece will be beautiful even without the stars and the space-part, and in my opinion it will be prettier.
